It’s funny how life works. I always wanted to be a student at Musicians Institute (MI) in Hollywood, Calif., and just recently I was honored with an invitation by the Women’s Music Summit (WMS) to participate in the summit’s PR and promotions panel on July 28 in none other than MI.
The WMS is a 3-day event that provides women in music with instruction, insider tips, industry expertise and more. It will feature guest artists like guitarist Jennifer Batten and acclaimed songwriter and producer Holly Knight. Other panelists include Evangelia Livanos from Synergy Artist Management, Karen Webb from PR Squared Public Relations, Danica Lynch from Red Temple Music, and Michelle Belcher from Universal Music Publishing.
The WMS is the brainchild of music industry veteran, marketing guru and Guitar World columnist Laura Whitmore. It is worthwhile attending the event JUST to meet her, as she is a wonderful and incredibly inspiring woman. Basically, she is the Oprah of the music industry.
You can expect me to talk about my experience as a public relations specialist for Fender, what a day in the life of a PR pro is like, how to successfully brand yourself in a cutthroat industry and more.
