A week ago today I was in Anaheim, Calif., for the 2013 Winter NAMM show, and boy – what a show! First, I meet Eddie Van Halen, then I get a She Rocks Award, and then I run into Stevie Wonder. Three completely unexpected and life-altering events!
During Fender’s Wednesday night NAMM kick off party we got a very pleasant surprise visit from none other than Eddie Van Halen. I can’t think of a word other than awesome to describe him. You don’t run into Eddie every day, so there you go…an epic bucket list moment.
On Friday morning, another life-changing event took place. I was awarded the “Next Generation” She Rocks Award at the Women’s International Music Network breakfast held at the Anaheim Marriott. Amazing on many levels, considering other people being awarded include award-winning producer and songwriter Holly Knight, and the ultimate female guitar prodigy Orianthi. You can read all about the awards here.
To top things off, I ran into Stevie Wonder on Saturday. I got goosebumps (the good kind!). That’s one of the things I love the most about the NAMM show – you never know who you’re going to run into.
Other big names in attendance (that I unfortunately didn’t run into) were John Stamos, Lisa Loeb, Elton John, and more.
If you didn’t catch any of your favorite rock stars, don’t fret; there’ always next year!
